Personal Injury Claims

Some personal injury claims can be resolved without the need of a lawyer, but it is often more beneficial to have an experienced attorney on your side. Claimants often attempt to settle their own personal injury claims, because insurance adjusters give the impression that they have the claimant’s best interests in mind. But when the claimant receives an offer that is so low that it is offensive, that’s when they call a lawyer for help with their claim. Most of the time no harm is done to the claim up to that point, but sometimes a self represented claimant can diminish the value of their claim by doing and saying things that they should not do or say. If a lawyer is hired right away, the lawyer communicates with the adjuster and the claimant does not need to communicate directly with the other side or their representatives any more, other than possibly at a deposition.

Vehicle Lemon Law

Most vehicle lemon law claims can be resolved without filing a lawsuit. If someone encourages you to file a lawsuit for a lemon law claim, ask them to explain to you, in writing, why a lawsuit is necessary. Most of the time, a lawsuit is not necessary; manufacturers tend to pay the statutory lemon law relief shortly after a demand is sent demanding the statutory relief, which can include receiving a refund of the down payment, receiving a refund of all the payments made on the vehicle, prorated registration, attorney’s fees, and more. Lawsuits take a lot more time than a pre-lawsuit settlement. Most people need a reliable vehicle in a timely manner, so it’s imperative that they receive the compensation from a lemon law claim as soon as possible, not after a lengthy and potentially unnecessary lawsuit.

Family Law Agreements

Family law agreements such as prenuptial, postnuptial, and settlement agreements can save time and money. Divorces are difficult, emotionally, and no amount of money spent on a divorce will change that fact. So why not spend less on it, keep more of your savings, keep more of your retirement money, keep more of your income in general, and use time and money saving agreements such as prenuptial, postnuptial, and settlement agreements. No one wants to think about a divorce at the beginning of their marriage, so it’s difficult to discuss the terms of a prenuptial agreement. But if the marriage ends in a divorce, many times at least one party (husband or wife) wishes they had a prenuptial agreement. Sometimes the wedding happens and the time for a prenuptial agreement has passed, but there is still time for a postnuptial agreement. Many times postnuptial agreements are entered into after one spouse notices signs that the marriage might end in divorce and they want to protect their income and assets in case the divorce is necessary. Finally, a marital settlement agreement is a great way for the parties to put an end to their marriage without arguing in a public place (court) over things that can be agreed to in private.
